A high-level Malian military delegation, led by the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Oumar Diarra, arrived this Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Nouakchott in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. This is a friendship and working visit relating to military cooperation between the two states. The meeting made it possible to review the security concerns of the two countries and to glimpse lasting solutions for securing the common border.
There was also discussion of the establishment of a mechanism to avoid repetitive incidents along the border.
The two parties also agreed on the importance of agreeing on concrete security measures guaranteeing a return to calm and tranquility on the border line.
This visit follows those which took place at the political level between ministerial delegations in Nouakchott and then in Bamako in recent times.
