PRESENTATION OF THE LAND ARMY

MOTTO: DISCIPLINE – BRAVERY – PATRIOTISM

        The motto of the Army is:

“United and determined, standing on the ramparts and as close as possible.”


I- Creation and missions:

Created by Order No. 2019-001/P-RM OF MARCH 4, 2019, the Army, as part of National Defense in collaboration with the other components of the Armed Forces, is responsible for:

- to recruit, organize training and prepare land forces;

- to preserve the integrity of the national territory;

- to contribute to the operational defense of the territory;

- to participate in actions in favor of peace and humanitarian assistance.

The Army is commanded by a General Officer of the Army appointed by decree taken by the Council of Ministers, who bears the title of Chief of Staff of the Army. The Army is placed under the authority of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces. The Chief of Staff of the Army is assisted by a deputy, General Officer or superior, appointed under the same conditions, who replaces him in the fullness of his responsibilities, in the event of his absence or incapacity. He holds the title of Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army.

II- Organization and operating methods of the Army:

Decree No. 2019-0132/P-RM of March 4, 2019 establishes the organization and operating methods of the Army.

1- Organization: The Army includes:

- a Chief of Staff;

- a staff composed of a Cabinet, three Advisors and four Sub-Chiefdoms: Operations, Logistics, Human Resources, and Finance);

- an Army Inspection;

- military regions;

- and functional Commands.


  The Army is structured around the following Weapons and Specialties:

- Infantry;

- Armored weapons and cavalry;

- Artillery;

- Transmissions;

- Logistics ;

- Administration.

The Chief of Staff of the Army designs, directs, coordinates and controls the activities of the different components of the Army. He is responsible

- instruction, training and operational readiness of Army structures;

- discipline, safety and staff morale;

- personnel management;

- managing the maintenance, maintenance and safety of materials, equipment and installations placed under its authority;

- the effective and efficient use of the resources made available;

- the development of the doctrine for the employment of land forces;

- the establishment of personnel and equipment mobilization plans;

- the organization of land forces.

Furthermore,

- it addresses to the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, proposals regarding planning and programming of Army resources, taking into account technical and financial possibilities;

- he participates in the preparation of the budget;

- it develops the military infrastructure needs of the Army and proposes the corresponding programs to the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces;

- he reports to the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces on the state of availability of operational resources;

- it defines the needs in terms of logistical support and submits them to the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces.

The Military Region: The Military Region has the following missions:

- to ensure the operational preparation of the Regiments;

- to ensure the defense of the territorial integrity of its administrative Region and if necessary, upon order, participate in the defense of other Regions;

- to ensure the use of human, financial and material resources.

The military region is headed by a general or senior officer of the Army who bears the title of Commander of the Military Region. It is particularly responsible for:

- to perfect military education by strengthening the command capacities of executives;

- to conduct and have the instruction and training of structures and units conducted;

- to ensure compliance with health and safety rules;

- to ensure the application of discipline and military standards;

- ensure the management of human resources and materials.

The Commander of the Military Region is supported by a General Officer or higher. He bears the title of Chief of Staff of the Military Region. He assists the Commander of the Military Region in the exercise of his duties and is responsible for the coordination and operation of the Regional Headquarters.

2- Operation:

The Army Headquarters is the central command structure of the Army. The Chief of Staff of the Army reports to the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, in particular on the capacity and operational availability of the Army.
