Contact: the Inspector General of the Armed Forces and Services in the General Staffs and Service Directorates

The Inspector General of the Armed Forces and Services, Brigadier General Brahima Diabaté, has begun a series of visits to the staffs and service directorates. It was Thursday, May 5, 2022 with his staff. The first day concerned the staff of the Army and the Air Force. The purpose of this visit is to make contact with the chiefs of staff and directors of service, to explain the role of the General Inspectorate of the Armed Forces and the expectation of the men of the IGAS with regard to the execution of their missions and finally the collaboration and participation of the IGAS in the rise in power of the FAMa in advisory and technical support. The Air Force received the organization chart of the General Inspectorate of the Armed Forces and the place occupied by this structure in the Army.

During this visit, the Inspector General of the Armed Forces and Services, Brigadier General Brahima Diabaté stressed that he is the permanent adviser to the Minister in the management of the tasks assigned to him. He hammered that the Inspector General is the third personality after the Secretary General of the Department of Defense. He maintained that the IGAS is a structure that is not in the vertical organization of the command. According to him, it is a tool for monitoring, advising, controlling and auditing structures. He also learned that the Inspectorate must ensure human rights, the use and management of human resources and financial resources and finally operational control. General Diabaté noted that the two structures visited, namely the Air and Land Forces, have seen enormous sacrifices from their leaders through their infrastructures. Finally, he urged the military leaders to include the development of infrastructures in their priority for the well-being of the elements.

The Air Force Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Alou Boï Diarra, said he was honored by the visit of the Inspector General of the Armies and Services and his staff as well as the advice given by this one. According to him, the watchwords of the authorities of the transition are to support the men who fight for their sovereign mission. He thanked the host of the day for his availability and the initiative he had to come and explain to the Air Force the role and mission of IGAS. “Also to reassure us, give us confidence and break down some of the prejudices regarding the arrival of auditors and inspectors,” he said. The Chief of Staff of the Air Force finally underlined that far from being a source of problem for the leaders and the soldiers, the Inspector clarified to them that he is a force of advice and recommendation for the improvement of the functioning of the services.

Brigadier General Diarra presented a gift to the Inspector General of the Armed Forces and Services at the end of his visit.
