As part of the major offensive underway in the Eastern theater under Operation DOUGOUKOLOKO, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) consolidated their operational posture in the city of Kidal on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
This operation follows a campaign of intense airstrikes and several air-ground operations conducted over the past few days, which succeeded in neutralizing numerous members of the FLA-JNIM terrorist coalition while dealing significant, deep-seated blows to their logistical capabilities and operational assets.
Conducted with professionalism by the FAMa and their partners, this major operation aims to sustainably enhance the security of Malian populations living in this part of the country, guarantee the free movement of people and goods, strengthen border security, and disrupt activities linked to the criminal economy fostered by Terrorist Armed Groups (GAT).
Through this operational momentum, the FAMa continue to fulfill their core mandate of securing the national territory and protecting civilian populations and their property from the abuses of Terrorist Armed Groups.
